3500 South, Salt Lake County, Utah
Urban arterial traffic operations simulated to illustrate effects of context-sensitive solutions.

The 3500 South DEIS was developed with the spirit and philosophies of Context Sensitive Solutions (CSS). A CSS will support the community’s values and goals by:

  1. Supporting the transportation needs of the community.
  2. Being compatible with the natural and built environments.
  3. Being a transportation facility that is an ASSET to
    the community.

The extensive public involvement process made use of technically advanced analytical tools, which doubled as highly effective communication tools.  Below, ‘Existing’ and ‘Future No Build’ traffic conditions for the corridor are animated, using VISSIM.  The analytical tool reported the effects on travel times and overall delay across multiple modes for various alternatives considered.
